Bill Split
Snap a receipt, assign each item, and Tabello tells everyone what they owe — with tax, tip, and fees split proportionally.
What is a Bill Split?
A bill split is a one-shot calculation from a single receipt. Snap a photo, assign each item to the people who shared it, and Tabello shows what each person owes — with tax, tip, and fees split proportionally.
Bill splits live under the Bill splits tab on the home screen, separate from your regular trackers. Unlike a tracker, a bill split doesn't keep a running ledger or track payments — it answers one question: who owes what for this one bill. If you need ongoing balances across many expenses, use a Regular Tracker instead.
How to Create One
Three steps, one bill split
-
1
From the home screen, tap Split bill. Use Scan receipt to take a photo or pick one from your gallery — Tabello extracts the merchant, items, amounts, and currency automatically.
-
2
Assign people to each item. Tap an item to select who shared it — items can be split among any number of people.
-
3
Review additional charges (tax, tip, service charges), adjust if needed, and tap Create. The Shares view opens with each person's total.
Splitting Groups
By default, every person settles individually. If two or more people should be treated as one — a couple paying together, a parent covering a child — group them in the Splitting groups section. Tap a person, then pick who they're paying with. Grouped people share a single row in the Shares view.
You can group, ungroup, and add members at any time. Items still get assigned to individuals; grouping only affects how the final shares are summed.
Editing a Bill Split
You can edit a bill split after creation to fix names, amounts, or item assignments. You can also add new line items or additional charges that the scan missed. Saving your changes recalculates the Shares view from the updated items.
Bill splits don't track payments
There's no settle-up plan, no balances, and no payment history on a bill split — just the calculated shares. To track payments and running balances across multiple expenses, use a Regular or Prorated tracker.
Free Tier & Credits
